Title: Survivour of the Sheikah
Series: Legend of Zelda: TP, post TP, pre OoT, Has snipits of OoT/post OoT I knew it was wrong to linger and I knew it would hurt to watch, but something in me cemented my legs and glued my eyes to Link’s form. I needed to stay, I needed to see. (No, not need… I did feel like I needed but it was just a desire, just a want, albeit a strong one that convinced me that I needed it.) I wanted to stay, and I wanted to see. (Perhaps they, too, were needs because I needed to stay in order to see, and I needed to see to ensure that my other wants were truly just desires or were the actual truth.) I wanted Link to deny Zelda’s claim, I wanted Link to treat her formally, I wanted Link to reject her offer to return to his time, I wanted Link to reject her. I wanted Link
For the Sheikah it was wrong to desire, it was wrong to want so badly that it was needed, it was wrong to act other than ordered, it was wrong to defy orders. I, the survivor of the Sheikahs, knew better, but I still desired, I still wanted – needed –, I still watched, I still lingered.
So I watched. I watched as the bright light allowed Zelda to replace me, I watched it fade, I watched as she revealed a lie – that she was me. Then, I watched him. I watched Link. He gasped and stepped back, his blue eyes widened, his body tensed. His lips didn’t move, his stature didn’t twitch, He was shocked. I watched as she didn’t care, I watched as she continued the story, and I watched as the temple trembled. And, then a new surprise shook him, it jolted him into reality. He finally moved, but it was too late. I watched as Ganondorf spoke, I watched as Ganon encased her in a crystal glass and watched as the dark one taunted him. He ran after the evil lord, sword in his left, shield in his right. He listened as Navi whispered into his ear and he replied. “Navi, I know, but…” His voice trailed into a whisper and he was gone.
I lingered in the temple as I contemplated my observations, as I contemplated Link’s reaction. I thought, Why did he freeze like that, I hoped, Did it seem so inconceivable that he tried to deny it, I wanted.
Title: Survivour of the Sheikah
Series: Legend of Zelda: TP, post TP, pre OoT, Has snipits of OoT/post OoT
Pairings/Characters: Sheik, Impa, Link, Midna, Zelda, OCs, Sheik/Link (or Link/Sheik, under debate)
Rating: T (for now)
Word Count: 409
Warnings: Slight AU (Sheik exists in TP)
Summary/Quotation: They say the past is just history, it has nothing to do with us, but when the past needs to be changed, a new hero must be called upon to resume old titles.
Chapter: Prologue
The Beginning
“Let go of the past, it will only drag you down”
Sheik couldn’t stand it. He couldn’t stand those words. If he was to let go of his past then he would have let go of his present and his future. He was the lone survivor of the Sheikah. However, it hadn’t always been that way.
The Sheikah were once a thriving, long-lived race. They had several villages – one of which included the more public Village of Kakariko. Kakariko however, wasn’t just a village, but it was the capital of the Sheikah. At one point in time the village had a square, it had a fountain, it had holidays, it had ceremonies. But, with a single order scheduled to coincide with the one time that all of the Sheikah gathered in the village, it was all but destroyed.
A man, a woman, and a child were all that remained. There was no blood between them except that they all were Sheikah. The King forced them into an artificial family. The man was the first to die – he was defending the crown from invaders. It is whispered that the man could have avoided the death blow and survived, but the princess of Hyrule was the only person alive who truly knew what happened, and she did not discuss the matter. It took another fifty – and seven – years for the next Sheikah to move on, and that was the woman. However, in another time line the woman survived and she took on another name.
The child however, grew into an adult in both times, and carried on as the survivor of the Sheikah. He was the one who protected the royal line. But, it was the second time line that was of interest. It took another two hundred years to pass before anything of significance happened. The woman was an old woman who was closing in on her remaining years and the child now an adult in his prime.
He still protected the royal family, and Hyrule had been run peacefully by the Princess of Hyrule (she could not yet be called a queen, for she was unwed) but soon, a darkness had taken over the land. The last Sheikah protector was visiting the only other surviving Sheikah on orders of the princess when the attack came. So, he found himself trapped within their old home, blocked by a wall of darkness. Perhaps it was time for another hero to awaken…
